James Bond’s Lotus Esprit Submarine Car to be auctioned

  RM Auctions will sell the actual Lotus Esprit S1 ‘Submarine Car’ that was used in the filming of the James Bond movie ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’. According to RM Auctions, this Lotus cost over $100,000 to build in 1977 when it was new. The car was known as “Wet Nellie” and was developed using one of six Esprit body-shells during filming. Built by Perry Oceanographic in Riviera Beach, Florida, the Lotus is controlled using its motorized propellers and levered steering controls. The ’1977 Lotus Esprit 007 Submarine’ as it is known will be sold without reserve in early September in London. It’s probably one of the most iconic movie cars of all times. ‘Eleanor’ Movie Car auctioned off for $1 Million

  It turns out the experts were wrong in predicting “Eleanor” the star vehicle of the movie ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ would only sell for $300,000. Instead the bids were flying all the way up to the hammer price of a cool $1 million. The crowd erupted in applause after the unexpected figure was reached. For some it’s quite a lofty price to pay for a movie modified 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500. While it should be noted that multiple Mustang GT500s were used in the movie, this was the car marked as the “hero” car driven by Nicolas Cage in many of the scenes, as well as being the actual vehicle pictured in the movies promotional material. Porsche Unveils its All-New 2014 911 Turbo

To coincide with Porsche’s 40th Anniversary celebration they have announced the next generation of their supercar 911 Turbo to the masses. Porsche unveiled its all new 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S. While the body shape is pretty much the same as everyone is used to, it’s what’s underneath its skin that’s changed significantly. There is a new all wheel drive system, along with active rear steering, adaptive aero front and rear, and 520 HP (560 for the S version). Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario Unveiled

  Lamborghini has unveiled the special edition Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario at the Shanghai Auto Show this past weekend. The supercar celebrates 50 years in business for Lamborghini. The company has decided to only produce 100 units of the Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario, each of which will be numbered with a special logo. The standard colour of the special edition Lamborghini will be Giallo Maggio (May Yellow). There are two reasons; firstly, as a tribute to the most preferred colour chosen by Lamborghini customers over the company’s existence. Secondly, as a tribute to the founding of Lamborghini which happened in the month of Maggio (May) 1963. Ballistic BJ Baldwin in Monster Energy #Recoil

  It all started with Ken Block racing around different locations with really cool camera angles etc. Looks like B.J. Baldwin was passed the baton and in this Monster Energy video he races a 850-horsepower Trophy Truck across the Mojave Desert at 150 miles an hour. He is jumping over all sorts of things including a Nissan GTR with a gorgeous model standing next to it. Although the video was released on April 1st you can see this is no April fools joke. Monster Energy pulled all the stops to create an inconceivable short driving film. It ends with a drive down the Vegas Strip at night with all the lights blazing. Lamborghini Murcielago crashed within hours of purchase

  Imagine how great it would be to buy a $250,000 Supercar and the thrill of that first drive home. You can’t wait to park it in your driveway and just stare at it. Well that dream shoulda, woulda, coulda happened, but didn’t, to one recent Lamborghini buyer as instead it was totalled just hours after taking purchase. One wealthy car buyer dropped $250,000 on a gorgeous 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago in La Jolla California only to crash it on the very ride home.   Since it’s Lamborghini’s 50th year anniversary it’s only fitting that they unveil their most extreme creation at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The ultra exclusive Lamborghini Veneno will have a very limited run of only three vehicles. One in red, one in white and one in green. Similar to the Italian flag. Its design is laser focused on optimum aerodynamics and cornering stability, giving the Veneno the real dynamic experience of a race car, however is fully street legal. With horsepower rated at a whopping 750hp, the Veneno accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 350 km/h. It is priced at $3.9 million USD. 2013 SRT Viper built in Detroit – Production Video

  What can be one of the most interesting online videos of the All-New 2013 SRT Viper…its production? The Viper is built in good old Detroit, Michigan and the plant has little to no automation. While other plants might have workers spend under a minute on each vehicle, building the Viper each worker spends 30 minutes on each car. Chrysler’s Conner Avenue Assembly Plant had been closed for nearly two years prior, during the company’s bankruptcy proceeding. All New Vipers are currently rolling off the line. The video takes one through the process from assembling the engine all the way to driving the car off the lot. The video is impressive and worth a look for any Viper fan. Now just finding a way to afford such an amazing car would be the next step.
