Sorry, Cadillac - any hopes that the new CTS would carry home the World Car of the Year award for 2008 have effectively been dashed. The powers that bestow the title have announced their even-shorter short list for the award, scheduled to be announced at the New York Auto Show on March 20.
The final three contenders are the Ford Mondeo, Mazda’s Demio/2, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. That’s trimmed down considerably from the original 10 finalists , which also included the CTS, Ford S-Max, Nissan Qashqai, Infiniti G37 Coupe, Volvo C30, and Audi’s A5/S5 and R8.
Those cars aren’t entirely out of the running; many are also nominated for either the World Performance Car, World Green Car , or World Car Design of the Year titles.
The final verdict for all four titles won’t be announced for another two weeks, but what car would you say best deserves the title? Leave us your nominations in the comments section below.
