Barrett-Jackson auctions 2013 SRT Viper for $300K

  If you wanted the first production 2013 SRT Viper to roll off the assembly line bearing VIN 0001 you missed your chance. Barrett-Jackson has auctioned off the supercar on behalf of Chrysler last Saturday for the staggering price of $300,000. All proceeds will go to the Austin Hatcher Foundation, an organization that helps children and families dealing with issues resulting from pediatric cancer. The fifth generation of the iconic two seat, American-built supercar has been deliberately evolved to incorporate superior craftsmanship, a host of new technologies and ergonomic improvements while respecting its visceral legacy of outright performance. With a monster 640 horsepower V10 engine and beautiful carbon fiber bodywork shining under the lights, bidding for the sports car rose quickly past the six figure sticker price. The all-new 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish is unveiled

  Aston Martin has unveiled the all-new Vanquish which will be available in late 2012. The Vanquish takes the place of the DBS as the company’s flagship vehicle. It is a much larger vehicle inside with a much more spacious cabin and trunk area which is more than 60% larger than that of the DBS. It will be powered by a revised version of the normally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine with monster peak power of 565 HP, making it Aston Martin’s most potent production model yet. Prices for used cars starting to moderate

  Prices for used cars has been very strong over the past three years, however, they seem to be moderating currently. In the past it almost made more sense buying new as the price of comparable used vehicles was not far off brand new. The pendulum appears to be swinging towards used car buyers now. Also, manufacturers have been much more aggressive special financing offers and rebates on new vehicles. Zero percent financing on a new vehicle is very attractive to car shoppers compared to four percent for a used car. Supply of pre-owned vehicles is increasing and with that pricing pressure is easing on used cars. With that the used car market is slowly moving in the customers favor. Keep your expectations reasonable; as you won’t see huge drops in used car prices, however, you will have more pricing power on the used car …

Apple Unveils Siri ‘Eyes Free’ Solution for New Cars

  The smartphone and automotive industries have long been dancing around each, trying to figure out quite how they might team up in a major way. Siri, the voice-command/digital-assistant system that debuted in Apple’s iOS 5 platform, is about as hands-free as mobile-phone technology gets. Press a button, ask Siri a question or give your instructions, and that’s it. When you’re driving a car, however, finding that button can be tricky, which brings us to Apple’s latest wonder, Eyes Free. A new feature called “Eyes Free” will officially integrate Siri functionality into cars. GM, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, Jaguar, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda, will be launching products to integrate Siri into their cars within the next 12 months. Steven Tyler’s $1.1 million Hennessey Venom GT Spyder

  Steve Tyler just took delivery of a special order $1.1 million Hennessey Venom GT Spyder. The car is the worlds fastest street legal production car with a top speed of 275 mph. Just beating the Bugatti Veyron which tops out at 267 mph. It will accelerate to 200 mph in 15.9 seconds. How’s that for fast. While the Venom GT coupe version costs $950,000 this was a special order. While $150,000 extra may seem like a lot to pay for a removable roof. John Hennessey explained what went into Tyler’s custom order. “We had to make a few structural changes to our integrated rollcage in order to be able to fit the removable top,” Hennessey said. “This increased the weight of our vehicle by about 30 pounds to a curb weight of 2743 pounds (1244 kilograms).
