Eric Clapton’s Ferrari SP12 EC is finally unveiled

Ferrari has built a custom one-off vehicle for musician Eric Clapton. The Ferrari SP12 EC is a $5 million supercar that plays homage to the Ferrari 512 BB of which he has owned three over the years. Clapton is a longtime Ferrari fan and had this vehicle custom made to his liking. The result is a totally unique Ferrari SP12 EC which, to quote Clapton, was “one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done.” Developed from the Ferrari 458 Italia, Eric Clapton’s unique Ferrari SP12 EC was designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and Ferrari’s engineers. Not sure how many were aware, Ferrari does have a custom-build program where you can have your own car built to your specifications. Within reason of course. It should also be noted that this option doesn’t come cheap. If you have to …

Lamborghini driver pays the price for showing off

We’ve all seen it before. Exotic sports car driver at a red light revving their engine, and taking off like a bat out of hell when the light turns green. In most cases nothing unusual about it. Just another rich guy showing off, trying to impress those around him. On Mother’s Day it turns out someone was recording a bright yellow Lamborghini doing exactly that. Sitting at a red light revving its engine. What happened next is surprising, however, not unpredictable. When the light turned green the driver hit the gas and turned left however the car started to fishtail and the driver tried to correct it with more gas, however, the car is all-wheel-drive and as a result it didn’t react the way the driver thought it would. He ended up driving into the oncoming lane and getting squeezed between two stopped cars, …

China will account for half of all luxury car sales by 2020

It has been predicted that by the year 2020 half of all luxury vehicles will be sold in China. Currently BMW only sells more vehicles in Germany than it does in China. Cadillac only sells more vehicles in the US than it does in China. Luxury car buyers in China are swayed by brand names such as BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac. While domestic Chinese automakers dominate the market for lower priced vehicles, higher priced vehicles are the domain of the big international luxury brands. Super luxury automaker Bentley Motors sells more cars in China than any other market in the world. Currently China has the fourth-largest population of millionaires globally. It is estimated that there are over 535,000 millionaires living in China today. As China’s economy continues to get stronger, an even higher percentage of their population will be ‘high net worth individuals’. This will only …

Car sales are up even with higher prices and fewer incentives

Auto dealers are seeing pent up demand for new vehicles driving sales even with higher prices and lower incentives from automakers. It should also be noted that cars are now seeing a larger percentage of sales over SUVs and trucks from last year. The reason is simple, vehicle shoppers are reacting to the higher gas prices and demanding more fuel efficient cars. Used car prices continue to rise as a direct response to lack of quality used cars in the market. Since the recession hit is 2008 the volume of new car sales had been much lower than previous years. The result is a lack of supply of 3 and 4 year old vehicles. Even with higher prices, used car sales continue to beat last year’s levels. No doubt there is a lot of pent up demand where many car buyers can no longer put off replacing their old …
